From partnering with the Johnson STEAM Academy on back to school events, making sure students have back to school supplies, and partnering with Willis Dady on the renovation of permanent supportive housing facilities, First Congregational is active in our community! Programs with topics of interest to adults are offered in Fellowship Hall after the Sunday worship service. This Adult Ed forum often features community-based speakers on topics ranging from faith issues to social concerns and personal growth. Recent topics have included The Real History of Genesis and the Invasion of the Promised Land by Rev. Gary Connors Boe, Christianity in an Inter-Spirituality World by Rev. Janice Springer, a presentation by former Iowa Supreme Court Justice Baker on his experiences in the Varnum case, and a presentation on mental health issues by Betty King.
